10th December 2023

In a COP28 side-event set for December 10th, the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People (HAC for N&P) and the Government of France will co-host an illuminating gathering titled “Stronger Together for 30×30: French Expertise on Protected Areas to Support Climate and Biodiversity Practices Worldwide Through Peer Exchanges.” This event promises to be a valuable moment in the shared commitment to conservation, as it brings together leaders to discuss and collaborate on the implementation of the 30×30 initiative.

The High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, a dynamic alliance dedicated to addressing the interconnected challenges of biodiversity loss and climate change, will take the stage to introduce its newly HAC 30×30 Matchmaking Platform. This platform has been designed to assist Member Countries in achieving their 30×30 goals, marking a significant step forward in the global effort to protect 30% of the Earth’s land and sea by 2030.

A key feature of this event is the participation of the Government of France, a nation renowned for its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. In this event, leaders from France will play a crucial role in sharing their extensive experience in the domestic implementation of the 30×30 initiative. As a country with diverse ecosystems, France has demonstrated a proactive approach to conservation, making it a valuable source of expertise for nations striving to meet similar targets.

During the event, French representatives will shed light on their nation’s journey in implementing 30×30, offering insights into the challenges faced, successful strategies employed, and the lessons learned along the way. France’s commitment to conservation not only contributes to its domestic biodiversity but also sets an inspiring example for other nations seeking sustainable practices amid the challenges posed by climate change.

The event will emphasize the importance of global collaboration and peer exchanges in the pursuit of effective conservation practices. By sharing experiences and expertise, nations can learn from each other, building a collective knowledge base that enhances the likelihood of meeting the ambitious 30×30 goals.

Attendees can anticipate engaging discussions, interactive sessions, and the opportunity to glean insights from French experts on protected areas. As the event unfolds, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs associated with the 30×30 initiative, fostering a spirit of collaboration that transcends borders.
